HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Spring showers are on the way! Winds will be on the lighter side through Monday as a front approaches the area from the northwest. The front is expect to stall and weaken near Kauai Tuesday. Showers chances will increase along and near the frontal boundary. Breezy trade winds will fill back in on Tuesday as a new high builds in to our north. Moisture associated with the remnant frontal boundary will allow a wet trade wind pattern through Friday, especially over the west end of the island chain. Kauai and Oahu will likely experience a wet trade wind pattern with a bit less rain expected from Maui County eastward.
North shore surf may top High Surf Advisory (HSA) levels Monday night and Tuesday, followed by a gradual decline Wednesday into next weekend. Background south shore surf will be interrupted by a small south-southwest swell midweek. An east wind swell will build on Tuesday and Wednesday.
