Fatal fire in Gerry | News, Sports, Jobs – Evening Observer

Firefighters from numerous departments were called around 2:45 a.m. to the blaze at 4200 Route 380. Initial reports indicated that an occupant may have still been inside when the fire was called in to dispatch. A portion of Route 380 was closed to traffic due to the fire. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a man who was not immediately identified was located inside the residence and later pronounced dead. Members of the county Fire Investigation Team were looking into the cause of the fire. Crews from Gerry, Fluvanna, Falconer, Maple Springs, Ellery Center and Sinclairville responded to the scene.
