SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s farewell tour is headed to his record-setting 13th Final Four after Duke overwhelmed Arkansas 78-69 in the Blue Devils’ most complete performance of this NCAA Tournament run. A.J. Griffin scored 18 points, Paolo Banchero added 16 and and second-seeded Duke frustrated fourth-seeded Arkansas on the offensive end to get back to the Final Four for the first time since Krzyzewski won his fifth championship in 2015. Arkansas lost in the Elite Eight for the second straight season. Duke will face either archrival North Carolina or 15th-seeded Saint Peter’s in the Final Four next Saturday in New Orleans.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Creighton is on the NCAA Tournament run of lifetime and the last thing standing in the way of the Final Four is powerhouse South Carolina and dominant All-American Aliyah Boston. The 10th-seeded Bluejays have defeated No. 2 seed Iowa and No. 3 seed Iowa State its past two games to reach the Greensboro Region final. It seems unlikely Creighton could advance against a South Carolina team loaded with tall, skilled, smart players that has been No. 1 all season. Then again, no one bet on the Bluejays to go this far.
ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia has hired Central Florida’s Katie Abrahamson-Henderson as its new women’s basketball coach. She is just the third full-time head coach in the program’s history. Abrahamson-Henderson played at Georgia in the 1980s and now returns to the Lady Bulldogs to replace Joni Taylor, who left for the coaching job at Texas A&M. Abrahamson-Henderson has been a head coach for 17 seasons, also working at Albany and Missouri State. This past season, she led UCF to a school record for wins with a 26-4 mark. The Knights advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to UConn.
