Good morning, Boston. Don’t look outside — you might see snow. Instead, go see who won the Oscars. Here are the five things you need to know to start your busy workday.

DA to investigate garage collapse; MBTA shutdowns
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and other authorities will investigate a Boston parking garage collapse that killed a construction worker on Saturday evening who was identified publicly yesterday. The demolition of the garage is among the most complex engineering projects in Boston, as reported recently in the Business Journal, involving more than 700 concrete pieces that weigh over 100,000 pounds and span 60 feet each. … also, MBTA Orange and Green line trains in downtown sections are being replaced by buses because of the Government Center Garage collapse
A new Kowloon
The Kowloon restaurant has been a landmark on Route 1 in Saugus for more than 70 years. Grant Welker spoke with the Wong family about their decision to knock it down and build apartments and a smaller version of the restaurant.
Workdays, redefined

Two guilty pleasures on TV
I have a confession to make. Even though I share “what I’m watching” most days, there are two shows I’ve been watching that I haven’t shared. Both have been around for decades, but both, for some reason, have recaught my attention, if “recaught” is even a word.
One is Survivor and that one I blame on my wife. For 20 years, it’s been her guilty pleasure and all I can say is that it could be worse: She doesn’t watch (or make me watch) anything with “Real Housewives” or “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” in the title. The other is American Idol. And before you laugh, there are some great local stories playing out on Idol this season. And Lionel Ritchie, Katie Perry and Luke Bryan are likable this year.
Last night, in the wee hours after The Oscars, was the final “audition episode,” which means tonight begins the contestants’ new trials in Hollywood. I haven’t seen every Idol episode this season — no way was I staying up that late last night — so there may be others from Massachusetts I’m missing, but two that I’m watching are Delaney Renee and Natalia Bonfini. Renee is the babysitter from Berkley, who was secretly filmed singing by the woman who had hired her. With Renee’s permission, the video got posted it to TikTok and went on to get 18 million views. Bonfini is from Eastham, and she recently spoke with the Cape Cod Times about her “Golden Ticket” moment.
I know, I know, there’s better stuff on, but TV is mostly background noise in our household. But now I’m hooked, and left wondering, Will this year’s contestants from Massachusetts make it as far as, say, Siobhan Magnus did in season nine (sixth place), the same season Ashley Rodriguez of Boston made it to the top 24)? Or Angie Miller of Beverly, who now goes by the stage name Zealyn? She made it all the way to third place on the 12th season of Idol in 2013.
