The good news is that the storms will continue to steadily move east with an end to the activity expected later this evening. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is maintaining a Level 4/5 (moderate) risk of severe weather from eastern and southern Louisiana extending northward into Tennessee and eastward into Alabama.
Easternmost parishes could be dealing with showers and storms late into the evening and night. The storm threat comes to an end before midnight with skies steadily clearing overnight as drier air filters in from the west and northwest.
Daybreak temperatures for the Red Stick will be near 50° under clear skies with sunshine expected throughout the day. Highs on Thursday will reach the mid 70°s for most WAFB neighborhoods with a less humid and less windy day on the way. Expect fair to partly cloudy skies on Friday with a morning start in the mid to upper 40°s for metro Baton Rouge and an afternoon high in the upper 70°s. Scattered rains return on Saturday with most of the action occurring through the morning and mid-day. Severe weather is not a concern with Saturday’s rains and rain totals across most of the area will run less than 0.5″ for the day. Sunday will be the weekend’s “get outdoors” day with mostly sunny skies, low humidity, and high in the low 80°s. Our next round of storms on the forecast board arrive on Tuesday and we will have to keep an eye on developments regarding possible active/severe weather threats then. The forecast for the rest of next week looks good with plenty of sunshine as we head into the following weekend.
