Competition in the two-day District 30-4A tennis tournament begins today at Uvalde High School’s Terri Rambie Tennis Complex.
Action will get started at 9 a.m.
In boys’ varsity singles, Ty Gonzalez drew an opening-round bye. He will face the winner of a match between Isaac Mullins of Hondo and Kaden Branum of Carrizo Springs in quarter-final action.
Jonathon Garcia also drew an open-round bye. He will take on Peasall’s Jayden Amaya in a quarter-final match.
In girls’ varsity singles, Elizabeth Phillips and Allison Goggans each have an opening-round bye.
Phillips will play the winner between Hallie Gorman of Carrizo Springs and Karlina Rodriguez of Pearsall in quarter-final action.
Goggans will take on Hannah Garza of Carrizo Springs in a quarter-final matchup.
Jack Brock and Colton Gaston have an opening-round bye in boys’ doubles varsity action.
They will play the winners of an opening-round match between Beaver and Patel of Pearsall and Vargas and Riojas of Carrizo Springs in the quarterfinals.
Hector Lopez an Marquez Lopez will play Pearsall’s Valdez and Hernandez in quarter-final competition.
In girls’ varsity doubles, Joana Reyes and Victoria Reyes will go up against Martinez and Garcia of Crystal City in a quarter-final match.
Hope Dube and Zoe Faust will play in the quarterfinals against the winner between Lopez and Rios of Crystal City, and Fonseca and Acevedo of Pearsall.
Elizabeth Amaya and Armando Garcia will begin district play with a quarter-final match against Vasquez and Velasquez of Carrizo Springs.
Reilly Mize and Reagan Dodson will take on the winner between Garza and Luna of Pearsall, and Silos and Gamon of Carrizo Springs in the quarterfinals.
Tourney play will conclude tomorrow.
