PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine Camden Clark has received the 2022 quality award rankings from CareChex Awards, an information service of Quantros Inc. which places Camden Clark among the best hospitals in the nation, region and state for medical excellence and patient safety in a variety of clinical categories.
The rankings list Camden Clark as a top 100 Hospital in the nation for areas of medical excellence and patient safety. For medical excellence, CCMC received top 100 recognition for sepsis care, cancer care and major neurosurgery. For patient safety, it received top 100 recognition in the treatment of heart failure, pneumonia care and cancer care.
In addition, the analysis also ranks Camden Clark among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation and region for medical excellence in the key orthopaedic surgery categories of joint replacement and hip fracture care along with excellence in patience safety in women’s health and pulmonary care.

It’s our mission to meet the healthcare needs of our community, so this recognition for the excellence and quality of care to our patients is extremely rewarding,” said Cindy Kern, vice president of quality at WVU Medicine Camden Clark. “It’s gratifying to be recognized year after year for the advanced level of care we provide in clinical categories that affect so many on our area including, heart and stroke, cancer, orthopaedics, pulmonology and women’s care.”
Camden Clark also recently received national excellence of care awards for their expertise in cardiac care by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, U.S. News and World Report, HealthGrades and the American Heart Association.
The CareChex Awards by Quantros utilizes a peer-reviewed risk-adjustment methodology to more reliably measure rates of mortality, complications and readmissions, appropriately weighting and accounting for all of the risk factors relating to a patient’s principal and secondary diagnosis, as well as other patient characteristics that may increase the probability for adverse clinical outcomes.
Camden Clark Medical Center is a 302-bed, not-for-profit, acute care facility that serves the mid-Ohio Valley.
