According to the Fort Bragg Paraglide Facebook page, there has been a small number of norovirus cases reported in the area (news reports state 2 cases).
Since norovirus spreads quickly among children, Fort Bragg Schools and Child Development Centers have been notified of the concerns and to take extra precautions (hand washing).
The Center for Disease Control states that norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. You can get norovirus from direct contact with an infected person, consuming food or beverages prepared by an infected person, or touching contaminated surfaces and then putting unwashed hands in the mouth.
Fort Bragg’s Department of Public health wants residents to know that alcohol-based sanitizer does NOT work against norovirus. Proper hand-washing is essential for the control of norovirus.
