Apparently old man winter is struggling going back to sleep this year, and will make another appearance in the Bradford region and surrounding areas today, albeit a brief appearance.
The National Weather Service of State College released a Winter Weather Advisory yesterday for the cities of Bradford, Warren, St. Marys, Ridgway, Emporium, DuBois and Clearfield, effective from 2 a.m. last night until 1 p.m. today.
“Good news is, it will warm up by mid afternoon. It will be a huge change. By the afternoon, temperatures will reach 50 degrees. We just need to get through the morning,” explained Greg DeVoir, meteorologist for the National Weather Service State College office.
Area residents should plan for a slippery commute this morning and afternoon. Hazardous conditions due to rain, freezing rain, sleet and possible snow showers could impact travel. Light mixed precipitation is forecasted to begin at approximately 8 a.m. in McKean County.
The skies will start off very cloudy this morning and gradually will become more sunny as the day progresses and the temperatures warm.
“This is not a big storm, but it will bring periods of ice, snow, sleet and freezing rain to the area. Less than one tenth of an inch of ice and mixed precipitation is expected. However, that could lead to a coating that causes delays — ice is ice,” said DeVoir.
Please help local businesses by taking an online survey to help us navigate through these unprecedented times. None of the responses will be shared or used for any other purpose except to better serve our community. The survey is at: www.pulsepoll.com $1,000 is being awarded. Everyone completing the survey will be able to enter a contest to Win as our way of saying, “Thank You” for your time. Thank You!
