In the past four years, Blue River has had a combined 102-24 record.<br \/><strong class=gnt_ar_b_al>IHSAA girls basketball:<\/strong><a href=\"\/story\/sports\/high-school\/2022\/03\/18\/indiana-juinor-all-stars-2022-girls-basketball-roster\/9342955002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Meet the 2022 Indiana Junior All-Stars teams<\/a><br \/>Madden, a four-year starter, averaged 18.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.8 steals and 4.3 blocks as a senior. She finishes her high school career with 1,632 points, 1,115 rebounds, 174 assists, 208 steals and 312 blocks.<br \/>Here&#8217;s what else happened this week (March 14-18) in East Central Indiana high school and collegiate athletics:<br \/>Two East Central Indiana football players\u00a0\u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.monroecentral.org\/highschool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Monroe Central<\/a>&#8216;s Gavin Smithson-Burciaga and <a href=\"https:\/\/chs.muncie.k12.in.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Muncie Central<\/a>&#8216;s Woodrow Elliott II\u00a0\u2014 were named to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ifca.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Indiana Football Coaches Association<\/a> North All-Star roster.<br \/>Smithson-Burciaga, <a href=\"\/story\/sports\/recruiting\/2022\/02\/03\/ball-state-football-monroe-central-receiver-gavin-smithson-burciaga-commitment\/6641381001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">a Ball State football commit<\/a>, was selected as a tight end. In high school, he had 881 receiving yards, 91 rushing yards and eight offensive touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 129 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and an pick-six.<br \/>Elliott II, an Indiana Wesleyan football commit, was selected as a defensive tackle. Elliott recorded 117 tackles (22 tackles for loss), three sacks, three forced fumbles and four quarterback hurries. He was an All-North Central Conference selection this season.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/threestep.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">3STEP Sports<\/a>, the nation&#8217;s largest club and event operators in the country, acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.munciana.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Munciana Volleyball Club<\/a>, according to a press release.<br \/>Munciana has produced 120 college coaches, 600 college commitments, 262 high school and club All-Americans and 36 national championships.\u00a0<br \/>\u201cWe started Munciana in 1974 and have gone from a garage band to the Beatles, as our local newspaper wrote,\u201d Munciana co-director Wes Lyon said in a release. \u201cWe\u2019re very proud of our history and foundation. Joining forces with 3STEP Sports is going to help our program thrive during this next chapter.\u201d<br \/><strong class=gnt_ar_b_al>Munciana Volleyball Club:<\/strong><a href=\"\/story\/sports\/2021\/07\/08\/munciana-thrives-48th-aau-junior-national-volleyball-championships\/7901012002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Munciana thrives in its return to the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships<\/a><br \/>\u201cIt\u2019s so exciting to be joining 3STEP,\u201d\u00a0Munciana co-director Mike Lingenfelter said in the\u00a0release.\u00a0\u201cIt gives us the power of scale and more importantly the force of collaboration. Becoming part of the 3STEP family is going to provide tremendous benefits for our athletes and teams.\u201d<br \/>The partnership is a part of 3STEP&#8217;s growing volleyball division. 3STEP spans across more than 40 states and currently serves more than 3.1 million athletes across eight sports through events, club programs, media content and more.<br \/>The Central Indiana Conference announced its All-Conference boys basketball team. Locally, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcs.k12.in.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Blackford<\/a>&#8216;s Dawson Hundley was a First Team selection while Mickey Waters was an honorable mention.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wes-del.k12.in.us\/o\/wdmhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Wes-Del<\/a> senior volleyball player Kyle Antrim signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic\u00a0career at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iuk.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">IU Kokomo<\/a>.<br \/>Antrim, who&#8217;s been one of the best volleyball players in the area, was a Second Team Class A All-State, All-Mid-Eastern Conference and All-Delaware County selection.\u00a0She helped lead the Warriors to a 24-7 record and nearly helped them secure their first sectional title since 2014.\u00a0<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ballstatesports.com\/sports\/womens-gymnastics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Ball State gymnast<\/a> Suki Pfister was on of six All-Mid-American Conference First team selections, joining Central Michigan&#8217;s Hannah Demers and Sierra Demarnis, Eastern Michigan&#8217;s Ella Chemotti and Northern Illinois&#8217; Natalie Hamp and Tara Kofmehl.\u00a0<br \/>Pfister has been one of that country&#8217;s best vaulters this season, ranking first in the MAC and 25th in the nation with a NQS of 9.895. She is the only MAC vaulter to record two scores of 9.900 or better. This season, she also became only the fifth BSU gymnast to record a routine of 9.950 or better.\u00a0<br \/>&#8220;We are all super excited for Suki,&#8221; Ball State head coach Joanna Saleem said in a press release. &#8220;She has worked hard to be explosive and consistent on vault and that has shown in her performances this year.&#8221;<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ballstatesports.com\/sports\/mens-volleyball\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">No. 8 Ball State<\/a> (14-2, 6-1 MIVA) beat Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rival Ohio State (9-10, 3-4 MIVA) in five sets (26-24, 18-25, 25-23, 19-25, 17-15).\u00a0<br \/>The Cardinals were down 10-6 in the fifth set but rallied for the victory.<br \/><strong class=gnt_ar_b_al>\u25baBall State:<\/strong><a href=\"\/story\/sports\/college\/ball-state\/2022\/03\/17\/ball-state-host-life-celebration-volleyball-legend-don-shondell\/7069633001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">BSU to host Celebration of Life for volleyball legend Dr. Don Shondell<\/a><br \/>Ball State was led by Angelos Mandilaris (23 kills), Kaleb Jenness (22 kills), Vanis Buckholz (11 kills) and Quinn Isaacson (62 assists, 13 digs).\u00a0<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ballstatesports.com\/sports\/baseball\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Ball State<\/a> (8-8, 3-1 MAC) opened up conference play with a 3-1 series victory over Eastern Michigan after splitting a doubleheader with the Eagles Monday.<br \/>The Cardinals lost the first game 4-2. Eastern Michigan hit a pair of home runs to go up 4-0 before Amir Wright recorded the Cardinals&#8217; first hit, a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. Zach Cole scored in the bottom of the seven on an error.<br \/>Game two was\u00a0relatively low scoring\u00a0until the seventh inning, when Ball State scored nine runs to respond to Eastern Michigan&#8217;s five. Seven different Cardinals had two hits while Trenton Quartermaine and Justin Conant led the way with three RBIs apiece.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ballstatesports.com\/sports\/baseball\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Ball State<\/a> pitcher Sam Klein was named the MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week, recording three saves in three wins.\u00a0<br \/>He faced seven batters, retiring all of them while recording a 0.00 ERA to go along with two strikeouts.<br \/>&#8220;Sam Klein was simply outstanding in earning three saves,&#8221; Ball State head coach Rich Maloney said in a press release. &#8220;He was very efficient in throwing under 30 pitches for the weekend.&#8221;<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ballstatesports.com\/sports\/womens-golf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Ball State women&#8217;s golf<\/a> (899 (+47)) finished 11th at the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Florida.<br \/>The Cardinals were led by Liz Kim, who finished 19th individually with a 221 (+8). Her seven birdies were tied for 15th among the 84-player field.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/ballstatesports.com\/sports\/mens-golf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Ball State<\/a> finished 15th with a 15-over-par (867) at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix.<br \/>Joey Wiseman led the Cardinals with a 2-over (215), tying for 40th overall.
