Sing me a song<\/a> of a prequel to come! Today, news leaked that a prequel to Outlander<\/a><\/em> is in the works at Starz.

According to Variety<\/a><\/em>, Outlander <\/em>executive producer and showrunner Matthew B. Roberts is set to write the prequel series. Things are still in the early days\u2014Roberts is reportedly looking to pull a writers\u2019 room together in the upcoming weeks\u2014but the thought of more stories in the Outlander<\/em> world is sure to excite many a fan of Jamie and Claire Fraser\u2019s epic love (excellently portrayed by Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan on the show) as their travels have taken them through time and across continents.
Those who love the Outlander<\/em> series will also be glad to hear that Ronald D. Moore\u2014who developed Outlander<\/em> for television\u2014is also on board to executive produce the new show along with Roberts and Maril Davis.
We don\u2019t know yet what the plot of the prequel will be, though author of the books Diana Gabaldon has said she is working on a novel based on Jamie Fraser\u2019s parents<\/a>, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. There\u2019s no indication, however, that the show will focus on Jamie\u2019s parents as of yet.
In the meantime, we have season six of Outlander<\/em> to look forward to, which is set to premiere on March 6 on Starz and will be eight episodes long. If eight more episodes isn\u2019t enough for you, don\u2019t worry\u2014season seven<\/a> is already in production and will have sixteen episodes.<\/p>\n
