earlier today &#8211; rose above flood stage of 28 feet.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">East Grand Forks Fire Chief Jeff Boushee told the council the move is precautionary, as it could help preparation and possibly lead to financial aid \u201cdown the road.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Boushee added: \u201cI am not anticipating any problems, looking at the what National Weather Service is forecasting.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">For now, the National Weather Service predicts the river will crest at 37 feet in March 28 on Monday.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">At last check (4:45 PM), the Red River was at 29.19 feet in Grand Forks-East Grand Forks. <\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The emergency will be in effect until the river level returns below 28 feet.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Weather Service says a <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">flood warning remains in effect border to border for points directly along the Red in North Dakota and Minnesota.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Also, all boat landing access to the Red has been closed on the Polk County side of the river starting today (Thursday).<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>= =<br \/>Original post:<br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The East Grand Forks city council has called an emergency meeting for 5:00 PM today, to declare a local flood emergency, since the Red River has risen to flood stage.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Red went over the flood stage of 28 feet today\u2026 and at 3:45 PM, was over 29 feet.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">A flood warning remains in effect border to border for points directly along the Red in North Dakota and Minnesota.<\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">All boat landing access to the Red has been closed on the Polk County side of the river starting today (Thursday). <\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #050505;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Law enforcement says rising water and extreme currents are very dangerous&#8230;
