Pinkett Smith, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/pictures\/jada-pinkett-smiths-honest-quotes-about-alopecia-hair-loss\/\">who has been candid about her alopecia diagnosis<\/a>, rolled her eyes at the comment.<br \/>In response, Smith, 53, approached the stage and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/news\/oscars-2022-will-smith-hits-chris-rock-over-jada-g-i-jane-joke\/\">slapped the comedian on camera before the live segment was muted.<\/a><br \/>\u201cWill Smith just f\u2014king smacked the s\u2014t out of me,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/shows\/saturday-night-live\/\"><em>Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a> alum said as the <em>Suicide Squad<\/em> star returned to his seat before yelling, \u201cKeep my wife\u2019s name out your f\u2014king mouth.\u201d<br \/>At the time, a source exclusively told <em>Us Weekly<\/em> that people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/news\/will-smith-chris-rock-didnt-cross-paths-again-at-oscars-2022\/\">were worried about Smith and Rock crossing paths again<\/a> at the awards show. \u201cThe higher-ups from the Academy, once they realized the slap was real, were first focused on making sure Chris was OK,\u201d the insider revealed on Monday, March 28, noting that it wasn\u2019t immediately clear whether the incident was staged. \u201cSeveral workers went to check on [Chris] after the slap and he told everyone he was fine.\u201d<br \/>According to a second source, the pair \u201cdid not see each other\u201d after the altercation. \u201cEveryone knew where Chris and Will were afterward and were not about to let them interact again for safety reasons,\u201d the first insider shared.<br \/>That same day, the Academy Award winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/will-smith-apologizes-to-chris-rock-after-oscars-slap-drama\/\">apologized for his \u201cunacceptable and inexcusable\u201d actions toward Rock<\/a>. \u201cI would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness,\u201d he wrote via Instagram on Monday, March 28.<br \/>Smith added: \u201cI would also like to apologize to The Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.\u201d<br \/>The South Carolina native, who has not yet addressed the shocking incident, previously raised eyebrows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/pictures\/will-smith-jada-pinkett-smiths-relationship-timeline\/\">when he called out the couple<\/a> for boycotting the Oscars.<br \/>\u201cJada got mad, said she\u2019s not coming.
