Yesterday, Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem returned to tennis at Marbella Challenger after almost nine months. Unfortunately, he lost in his first match against Pedro Cachin of Argentina. Taking positives from the match, Thiem revealed that he felt like a tennis player again and vows to continue his rise up to the top.

A day after his comeback, Thiem announces another unfortunate news for his fans.

\u201cLooks like lately the good news don\u2019t last long \u2026 last night after dinner, I started feeling unwell and didn\u2019t have a good night. After developing mild symptoms I decided to take a test this morning, which came back positive for COVID-19. Now I have to wait and see how it develops. I\u2019ll keep you posted. Back-to-back blows for the Austrian as he will have to re-build physically if he wants to stay fit for the French Open.
Last year, the 2020 US Open winner suffered a wrist injury in June at the Mallorca Open. Since then, he hasn\u2019t played a single game on the tour. Before playing in the Marbella Challenger, he practiced with Stan Wawrinka<\/a>, where he lost in straight sets as well.\u00a0<\/span>Despite that, he continued with his return, as he played against the world no.228, Cachin, which Thiem lost<\/a> by 6-3,6-4.\u00a0<\/span>

After losing the match, Thiem<\/a> shared a post on his Instagram expressing his feelings about the match. \u201c<\/span>Today\u2019s been one of those days with big emotions and mixed feelings. You can imagine how happy I was today to be on a tennis court, doing what I love the most: playing tennis and competing again. After all these months, all those setbacks I had in the past few months, I was able to play again to feel the adrenaline of the competition. I felt like a player again,\u201d <\/span><\/i>Thiem wrote<\/a> on his Instagram.\u00a0<\/span>

Despite the loss, he was already looking forward to the next tournament in Marrakech. However, after testing positive for Covid-19, he will probably miss that tournament as well. Truly, this is a huge setback for the Austrian, as he was slowly making his way back on the tour. Right now, fans are hoping that he would recover well before the French Open.<\/span>
