Ray Opalka started walking to raise money for Ukraine a few weeks ago, and he just got some good news that he says inspires him to continue his mission.\u00a0
\u201cThey\u2019re walking hundreds of miles trying to get to Poland or Moldova, I can walk 50\u00a0miles,\u201d said Opalka.\u00a0\u00a0
He started his 50\u00a0mile walk for Ukraine earlier this month, he committed to walk as much as he could, whenever he could, but with two bad hips, his journey hasn\u2019t gone as planned.\u00a0\u00a0
\u201cSo, I just did 10\u00a0miles on Sunday, and today I\u2019m just going to do four, and then I\u2019ll do another seven or eight this weekend and slowly build up to the 50,\u201d said Opalka.\u00a0\u00a0
California businessman and former Oklahoman Bob Nouri saw the story online and was moved to help.\u00a0
\u201cIt really breaks my heart when I see how people are suffering and dying and you\u2019re trying to do this, so you inspired me to help,\u201d said Nouri.\u00a0\u00a0
Opalka\u2019s goal is to raise $10,000 to help Ukrainian refugees, and Thursday\u00a0Nouri surprised him with some good news. He would be donating $8,500 to his cause.\u00a0\u00a0
\u201cI offered to help raise whatever, you\u2019re short up to ten thousand dollars,\u201d said Nouri.\u00a0\u00a0
\u201cBob, I don\u2019t know\u2026 I have no words, thank you doesn\u2019t sum it up,\u201d Opalka said as he saw the check for the first time. An act of kindness at just the right time\u00a0\u00a0
\u201cI was ready to throw in the towel last night and say that I just can\u2019t do the 50, but I was like no I\u2019m going to finish the 50, I don\u2019t care if it takes me another month,\u201d said Opalka.\u00a0\u00a0
Houri humbly deflects any credit for his generous donation.\u00a0\u00a0
\u201cI was inspired by you and really I should be thanking you,\u201d said Nouri.\u00a0\u00a0
