Caitlyn Jenner<\/a> spoke about being transgender as well as the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill<\/a> in her first appearance on Fox News<\/a> as an official contributor on Sean Hannity’s program Thursday.
After Hannity introduced the former Olympic decathlete as a “brand new Fox News contributor,” Jenner took a few minutes to share what was discussed when “negotiating” the deal to join the station.
“As you might know I am trans, but I\u2019m not a trans activist,” Jenner said.\u00a0“That\u2019s just one part of my life. There\u2019s so much more to me.”
She added: “In the midterms coming up, LGBT issues are going to be very big issues and I\u2019m looking forward to covering those, but there\u2019s so much more to me than that.” She noted that being a patriot is one of those things.
Hannity went on to talk about\u00a0the new Florida\u00a0law, signed\u00a0by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis<\/a> earlier in the week, that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. He suggested that parents be able to “opt their kids” into “woke classes after school,” but to first focus on educating kids “with the basics first.”
Jenner agreed. “I\u2019m a common sense person and that\u2019s what you call common sense,” she said, noting she helped raised 10 kids and has 20 grandchildren. “I am all for parental rights.”

Jenner won the decathlon in the 1976 Olympics and\u00a0gained fame among the famous family on the television show \u201cKeeping Up with the Kardashians.\u201d
Fox News Channel announced it hired Jenner officially as a contributor earlier Thursday.
The 72-year-old ran an unsuccessful campaign for California governor last year. The network said she’ll offer commentary and analysis across various Fox News Media platforms.
\u201cCaitlyn’s story is an inspiration to us all,\u201d said Suzanne Scott, Fox News Media CEO. \u201cShe is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for our audience.\u201d
Jenner won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon in 1976. She later came out as a transgender and identifies as a female.
She said in a statement she was \u201chumbled by this unique opportunity\u201d to speak directly to Fox’s audience.
