Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/live-updates\/ukraine-russia-belgorod-mariupol-04-01-2022#ukraine-isnt-confirming-or-denying-an-attack-on-russian-soil\">refused to confirm or deny<\/a> the report. It is the first time Russia has reported a Ukrainian airstrike on Russian soil.<br \/><strong>Russian troops leaving Chernobyl likely <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/04\/01\/1090270567\/chernobyl-russia-radiation\"><strong>suffered radiation exposure<\/strong><\/a>, Ukraine&#8217;s Defense Ministry said. The ministry said Russian forces have fully withdrawn from the area of the former nuclear power plant. The International Atomic Energy Agency said it has not yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaea.org\/newscenter\/pressreleases\/update-39-iaea-director-general-statement-on-situation-in-ukraine\">been able to confirm<\/a> reports of Russian forces receiving high doses of radiation.<br \/><strong>A humanitarian relief team that was planning to evacuate civilians Friday from Mariupol was <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/live-updates\/ukraine-russia-belgorod-mariupol-04-01-2022#todays-planned-humanitarian-evacuations-from-mariupol-arent-happening\"><strong>unable to reach the besieged Ukrainian city<\/strong><\/a>. They will try again Saturday, the International Committee of the Red Cross said.<br \/><strong>Officials from Russia and Ukraine met for another day of talks about a potential cease-fire<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/04\/01\/1090192856\/as-ukraine-and-russia-meet-again-for-talks-fighting-continues-in-parts-of-ukrain\">as fighting continued in Ukraine<\/a>. The Ukrainian president&#8217;s office said 86 of the country&#8217;s service members were freed in the Zaporizhzhia region as part of a prisoner swap with Russia, although the number of Russians released was not disclosed, The <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-ukraine-business-europe-japan-poland-8b1d6dc3150020709de3bb07f798d716\">Associated Press reported<\/a>.<br \/><strong>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stripped two generals of their military rank<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/04\/01\/1090253301\/zelenskyy-generals-traitors-ukraine\">calling them &#8220;traitors&#8221; and &#8220;antiheroes.&#8221;<\/a> Both were intelligence officers in the Security Service of Ukraine. One was the former chief of the agency&#8217;s main department of internal security.
